So I get back from holiday to find Radio 1 have been f*****g about with the schedule again. There is no longer a dance show on a Saturday night (the main dance/clubbing night) - Judge Jules has been moved from his sat evening slot to 1am sat morning and the essential mix is now on a friday too (not so bar). Dance Anthems has been moved from Sunday to 11pm on a Friday.

Friday nights - Now all Dance music from Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Dave Pearce, Judge Jules and The Essential Mix.

Sat nights - Now all black music (pretty much the same as 1 extra). Trevor Nelson takes Jules place (which means he can finally play his music rather than the general stuff he had to play before). Westwood remains unchanged.

Sunday nights - Now for teenagers who can get help with their periods or lack of pubic hair. (Annie Mac and Kelly Osbourne - wtf).

It seems Radio 1 have pretty much shit all over Dance Anthems which was more of a general show anyone could listen to/request a track - now at 11am on a friday.

Now when I come in from a night out on Saturdays I get to listen to the 1 extra take over which guess what - plays the same shit as 1 extra.

It makes no sense to have whole evenings dedicated to a certain genre (let alone an entire station - 1 extra, but thats another rant), I used to enjoy listening to Pete Tong on a Friday then a bit of Westwood.

Other views?

Kelly Osbourne!?!!?

The Sunday surgury used to be good when it started

they've moved Moyles to 630am aswell, and broke up Huw and Beth in Wales.. which makes no sense, breaking up Colin and Edith was a mistake and so is this

the lack of focus on dance music from Radio1 is kinda worrying thou.. Radio1 used to always be the place for new dance music, now its down to one day a week.. suppose the move reflects how dance music has lost is popularity in the main stream media

I always had a problem listening in my car when they split the nations on Zane's show - it would keep changing between the two shows randomly.

I don't think Dance had lost its popularity anymore than indie or rock but the big record companies push american hip hop on us a lot rather than the european sounds.

An extra 30minutes for Moyles is a good thing though it would be best off at the end of his show rather than the beginning when there are likely more listeners.

I was always hoping Moyles would get his way of not having to play any music in the morning so it becomes more talk radio.
